Episode 42 – Lovers Walk

she chances
to see them together

bile
what was once love
rises up
into her throat

she runs away
slipping on deceit
and falls to her death

her heart impaled
on betrayal’s sword

 *     *     *

Love,

my disease
most desperate,

ripped from the vine
like raspberries,
red ripe and squashed
beneath my feet.

Love has me
shattered
into bitty pieces,
has left me smoldering.

Violet dark
and brooding,
love promises
to destroy us all.

Pain deeper
than a stake
through love’s
bitten heart,

so deep
is the river
I might
drown.

Episode 40 – Band Candy

In the tower,
I watch you healing;
it’s a self-served
march to freedom.

Memories, they float
like chocolate,
taste me sweet
inside the mirror.

And I radiate
with power
to the unposed
questions answered,

as the master
turns a cartwheel
to become
the great pretender.

Still the children
won’t forgive me
if you sleep
without your nighty.

Breathing in
the tortured cadence
and I want to take
you with me,

but I’ll stay.

Episode 29 – Passion

I bring sunshine
to feed
your darkest hunger.

Behold a single rose
upon the door,
its scent filled with memory.

Music invites me in,
act one closing
but much still ahead.

Champagne and hope
climb the stairs,
calling out your name.

Candles flicker,
the dream light fading,
shivering as it slips away.

Your face lies
in shades of gray
upon my pillow,

and grief
fills my heart
where love once lived.

Petals still moist,
the music echoes
in my ears.

Flames of passion
burn my soul,
now lost forever.

Episode 23 – Ted

a mother
throws her daughter kisses
embarrassing but
pleasing her with affection

a father
disappears
leaving men in his wake
who steal her candy

a monster
hides behind
the human face
offering sweet rewards

the mask stays on
in company
but the girl must touch
the rotting flesh below

swinging solitary
in moonlight
the girl can’t feel her hands
since he fell

and mother
has no tongue to speak
of the monsters
who come
to take her daughter

Episode 14 – Some Assembly Required

I’m bored
waiting for you
to wake up.

Jealousy flutters
the air.
We fight.

Sometimes
it’s the only
interesting part.

Girls come in pieces
blonde
and there are parts
brunette
I like best.

The red head is dead,
he said
with a smile.

She screamed.
I feel dirty all over.

And the fire
burned as hot
as the sun

on that day
we walked home
together.
